Sarıgül, who protested Deniz Baykal's leadership in front of party headquarters in Ankara on September 9th, spoke out once again at a press conference at the Lütfi Kırdar Exhibition Centre in Istanbul.

"Democratic responses cannot be punished in such an undemocratic fashion in any democratic country. These things happen in undemocratic countries within fascist parties. The CHP has started eating its own. They may be able to erase my name from the lists, but they will not be able to erase me from the heart of the people. The distinguished Baykal has been re-elected year in, year out by the delegation he personally selects, but he has always failed to be elected prime minister by the vote of the people. This is the problem...", declared Sarıgül.
