President Gul calls YOK head Tezic in for meeting
With the growing debate and heated words between the AKP-led administration and university rectors over the question of "turbans" in Turkish institutions of higher learning, President Abdullah Gul called for a meeting with Erdogan Tezic, the head of the influential Board of Higher Learning (YOK) today.
Sources report that Tezic will be making a statement to the press about the meeting between the two men when he leaves Cankaya Presidential Palace. President Gul is also expected to make a statement later in the day when he attends opening ceremonies at Ankara's Hacettepe University
