The Supreme Court revealed its red lines for the draft constitution following a three-hour meeting on the subject. In a written statement, the court emphasized the need for public participation in any changes made to the constitution. The court also said that the need for constitutional amendments had not been sufficiently discussed.
The court added that it had a number of objections to the draft constitution, over which the executive branch has created the impression of being in complete control.
Supreme Court: Secularism cannot be watered down
Revealing its red lines for the draft constitution, the Board of Presidents of the Supreme Court of Appeals stated, "It cannot be accepted for the principle of secularism, one of the foundations of the Republic, to be watered down with new adjustments to the constitution."
