| Turkey will never reach a population of 100 million |
The address-based census has been completed. Turkey's population has increased to 70.5 million. Population growth will stop in 2050, when it has reached 90-95 million. Associate professor İsmet Koç said: " considering the results of this census, some serious suspicions arise regarding the data census which took place in 2000. If we consider the results in 2000 to be accurate, Turkey's population has only increased by 2.5 million, reaching 70 million. However, expectations were at around 74 million. Even if the figures in 2000 are wrong, trends are progressing in the anticipated manner. While the rate of the youth population decreases, the rate of the older population increases. Likewise, urbanization resumes with growth. In Turkey, 7.1 million people are over the age of 60. According to the recent census, Turkey will never reach a population of 100 million. Turkey's population will go up to 90-95 million in 2050 and will stop there. |
